Mid-West USA Regional "the Wayfaring Cruisers" PTCC
The MWUSAR is a time for cruiser owners from all over the Mid West to get together and have fun in a relaxed and fun filled atmosphere. There will be plenty to do, so you can stay as busy as you want to. Enjoy the cars and special activities, because there is no telling what might happen next.
What kind of things are planned for this year's event? Friday mini-cruises: Two separate mini-cruises are planned, both traveling through a portion of the scenic route 66 countryside, and visiting nearby historic 66 icons. You can sign up for either cruise at our registration booth. Cool cars on display: From showroom stock to "ya gotta be kiddin' me" Car show and light show: You do not have to enter your vehicle, but you might win one of fifty-plus awards if you do. We will have a "Top 40" and other awards up for grabs. Door Prizes: The Wayfaring Cruisers Club doesn't rely on soliciting local businesses for donations. The majority of our club members generously purchase and donate the types of door prizes they would like to provide for our guests to win. Great tunes and DJ: Our very special DJ, Dale Turner, will provide the music again this year. You will not hear the same song twice, unless it is requested to be repeated. Food and drink concessions: Concession stands will be available. You may also bring your grills if desired.
A chance to help out again: This year, the MWUSAR has chosen to lend a helping hand to another local Domestic Abuse Center. Last year's response was received so well by all our registrants and club members, and thanks to each participant we were able to donate three pickup loads of greatly needed items and make a great cash donation. This year, the recipient is a domestic abuse center serving an Oklahoma County. This center receives no State or Federal support, but relies on donations from individuals. The need for our support is evident, and you can help someone who has very limited options. As last year, the name and exact location of the abuse center will be confidential in order to safeguard their "guests". Specifics will be made available to cruiser club Presidents prior to the event, and to all registrants at the event. You may contact us through the link below to find out what type of items are in critically short supply.
To show our appreciation from the Wayfaring Cruisers, anyone donating listed items for the domestic abuse center will be entered into a special drawing at the event. The more items you donate the more chances you have to win, and to help give someone in need of a much needed lift. This year's drawing will be a free MWUSAR event registration entry fee.
Games and Contests: scavenger hunt / raffles / 50-50 pot / blackout board Special Activities: Slow Drags Elimination event / Mid-West Idol / & more note: the "Mid-West Idol" is a talent contest for those cruisers out there who are not afraid to provide their own lip-sync rendition of one of their favorite tunes from 1954 - 1964. Get yourself, or your group, ready for some choreographed fun (please....no real singing). If you want to perform as one of your favorite do-wop or rockabilly artist, please use the link below to send us your song title and artist. We'll be ready....will you?
The items listed above are a few of the items we have planned for the Mid West USA Regional. In order for you to find out about the others.....well, "BE THERE OR BE SQUARE".
Please continue to check back for the latest event info, and to find out more about the early bird special activities. Thanks for stoppin' by!
Route 66 Many remember portions of the Mother Road, while others may have only read about it. Some, today, have traveled along what remains of the original route, but there were those that once lived it. Long passed are the those individuals that were there before the route came into existence. Few remain that witnessed the breaking of the ground. Route 66 Oklahomans spearheaded the legislation for the creation of the route, and gave it the familiar 66 name. Great efforts combined in order to fulfill a need for the original pathway linking points A and B. Hard labor and hard materials turned the idea into reality. It was the travelers that brought it to life, and to many of them....the 66 was like a dream come true. That same spirit is why many of us are still "running down the dream".
